Spring is in the air in Perthshire...
08-Apr-2008
... the wildlife is telling us so!
Last Sunday (6th April), upland safari operator,
Land Rover Experience Scotland
saw their first
black grouse
lek of the season. Each spring, male black grouse (also called blackcock) congregate on open areas called leks where they display for the females who watch from the sidelines.
The same 'Wild Perthshire' tour also spotted hares boxing so it sounds like spring is in the air!
Annette Drummond of Land Rover Experience Scotland was delighted, "it really is quite brilliant to see."
