Wildlife Sightings Coming in Thick and Fast

Following the first sighting of a minke whale off the coast of Mull last week, other sightings are coming in from around the coast.

Gairloch Marine Cruises reported their first minke whale sighting on Tuesday 2nd May. Could it be the same individual seen off Mull? They also reported two more excellent sightings on Friday (4th May) of a mother and calf feeding in Loch Gairloch for over an hour.

Bella Jane Boat Trips, Elgol, Skye reported their first basking shark sighting on Monday 1st May, as well as a group of five bottlenose dolphins at the beginning of April.

Puffin numbers appear to be low on the West Coast so far this year, although other seabirds, such as guillemots and razorbills seem to be abundant.
