New Marine Wildlife Visitor Centre for Gairloch
Wild Scotland member, Gairloch Marine Wildlife Cruises have been busy over the winter and have opened the doors on their fantastic new marine wildlife visitor centre located in Gairloch.
Overlooking Charleston Harbour, Gairloch Marine Wildlife Centre is an information, education and research centre dedicated to raising awareness of the marine environment through interpretive and interactive wildlife displays within the centre and associated boat trips The centre is the perfect place to learn about wildlife found around our shores from resident marine biologist Ian
The visitor centre complements Gairloch Marine Wildlife Cruises perfectly and the large viewing window overlooking the harbour is a great place to spot porpoises, otters, seals and many shore birds. Remote underwater and shore based cameras enable visitors to watch wildlife from the comfort of the wildlife centre and their cetacean sound booth allows visitors to ‘listen in’ to porpoises, dolphins and whales communicating with each other.
The centre is located in the harbour area at the end of Pier Road, Charleston Harbour, Gairloch. The visitor centre is free to enter and is open from 10:00am – 4:00pm daily until 30 September 2008.
