Double Award Success for Wilderness Scotland

Many congratulations to Wild Scotland member, Wilderness Scotlandwho had the pleasure of receiving two prestigious awards in October.

The Edinburgh based adventure tour operator was delighted to be named the leading UK tour operator in the Guardian and Observer Ethical Travel Award 2008. While the category award went to Paris Velib (the city’s self-service bike scheme), the company were extremely proud to take second place and enhance their reputation as the UK’s leading ethical travel company.

Hot of the heels of this announcement, the company also won ‘Operator Programme of the Year’ category at the Scottish Thistle Awards 2008, for their Small Groups Programme. With more than 30 itineraries and 80 dates to choose from throughout the year, each trip is designed to find clients the best possible experience of Scotland, based around their chosen activity.  Whatever the activity – from sea kayaking or mountain biking to photography or walking – Wilderness Scotland truly provides adventures of a lifetime.

Wilderness Scotland Director, Stevie Christie, said “We’re absolutely delighted to be recognised by these awards.  As we set up our business with strong environmental core ethic, we’ve been able to innovate and introduce measures and practices which bring real benefits to the environment.  This includes ideas such as starting our trips at railway stations or cutting plastic bottles out of packed lunches that we provide on our trips, as well as the more business-wide issues and supporting various conservation projects in the Highlands”.
