Five Stars for Heatherlea!

Many congratulations to Wild Scotland member, wildlife holiday company Heatherlea who have just been graded as five star by VisitScotland under their ‘wildlife experience’ quality assurance (QA) scheme.

The ‘wildlife experience’ QA scheme was developed by VisitScotland in conjunction with Wild Scotland and its members, following a call from companies for recognition of the quality of their activities. The assessment not only looks at the quality of facilities, but also the quality of the guiding including demonstrating wildlife-watching best practice to guests.

Heatherlea (Scotland) Ltd based at The Mountview Hotel, Nethy Bridge, is only the second company in the country to receive all five stars for their “wildlife experience” – and the only one on the Scottish mainland. Heatherlea run week-long residential holidays, short break and special days to see wildlife in a range of places in Scotland. The other Scottish operator with five “wildlife experience” stars is Islay Birding, also a Wild Scotland member.

Heatherlea are about to celebrate their 20th season of wildlife watching holidays in the Highlands, and director, Kevin Shaw said the award could not have come at a better time. “The award of five stars is a fantastic achievement, well-earned by our dedicated team. We have always set high standards for our days in the field, and our birding guides and hotel staff thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

Definitely worth celebrating!
