The Fish are Jumping!

The salmon are coming thick and fast up the Ettrick river this autumn, and now is the best time to go to the salmon viewing centre on Philiphaugh Estate for the best views.

The salmon, who are heading upstream to spawn, can be seen on underwater cameras located near the visitor centre. There is an automatic fish counter so the number of salmon going up the river can be recorded. So far this year, the record number of fish counted in a day is 600! That’s a lot of fish!

Whilst you’re there, enjoy one of the many beautiful walks on the estate followed by delicious refreshments at the Waterwheel Cafe.
