Scottish Seabird Centre – February Events

There’s always something happening at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick….

Coming soon!! Our massive new 2,500 litre fish tank, with daily feeding at 3pm and our new Children’s Soft Play Zone in the Discovery Centre.  Tonnes of fun for toddlers and young children.

From now until 28th February – Scotland’s 1st Nature Photography Exhibition. The exhibition organised by the Scottish Seabird Centre features around 100 photographs chosen from the short-listed entries in the categories of wildlife and landscape, with the winners and runners-up entries from each category are on display.

PLANET GANNET – Come and see the Gannets return to the Bass Rock in huge numbers.  Children’s activities include:
3rd – 4th Make your own Gannet Darts
10th – 16th Hungry Gannet (make your own cup and ball game)
17th – 18th Make your own Gannet Finger Puppets
24th – 25th  Make your own Gannet Masks
Activities will be in the Discovery Centre from 2pm-3pm. Free with admission.

Sat 10th Feb 10am–4pm St Valentines Day Table at the Scottish Seabird Centre.  Wonderful home-made and hand-baked treats, sweets, gifts and cards for St Valentines Day, organised by our volunteers

Wed 14th Feb 10.30am SSC Birdwatching Group outing to The Hirsel. Call Des Truman on 0131 667 8867.

Wed 14th – 21st Feb National Nest Box Week. Up and down the country wild birds are beginning their preparations for the breeding season. This energy-sapping process involves finding a suitable mate, then searching for and building the ideal nest site – all in a matter of a few short weeks. Come in and see our selection of wild bird food and nest boxes.

Wed 21st Feb 10.00am SSC Birdwatching Group outing to Aberlady Bay with RSPB Edinburgh.  Meet at the car park. Call John Mitchell on 0131 337 1628.

Sun 25th Feb 9.00am Early Birds. Spring is here – come and see the seabirds prepare for the season ahead with a bracing birdwatching guided walk and indoor learning after breakfast.  Call Maggie Sheddan on 07709 505133.  Free event.
