Beavering away at Aigas

Aigas Field Centre is delighted to announce that their European Beaver pair are settling in very nicely – so nicely in fact that they have recently given birth to a kit!

The original pair were released into the loch at Aigas in April 2006 and staff have been closely monitoring their activities ever since. The young kit was first spotted in June and visitors to Aigas have been rewarded with excellent views of the family beavering away.

Recent visitors to the site have included eminent ecologist Roy Dennis and well-known BBC TV presenter Kate Humble.

The activities of the beavers are chronicled by Beaver Officer Jenny Grant on the Aigas website and she is currently searching for names for the family. The loch is contained within a large wetland enclosure.

Aigas specializes in providing ready-made and tailor-made holiday programmes involving nature & wildlife, archaeology & history, castles and gardens and more. Keep up to date with all the beaver, badger and pine marten news at
