The Isle May Bird Observatory has a fascinating history.  Not only is it the first bird observatory in Scotland but it is also the oldest operating observatory in the UK and is still very much involved in migration studies. In this talk Niall Campbell, Treasurer of the Isle of May Bird Observatory and Field Station Trust, discusses the Observatory’s history, as well as the work undertaken today and how knowledge of bird migration and behaviour is still developing.
