The BIG Project Visit to Scottish Seabird Centre, Feb 2012 (2)

BIGging it up at the Scottish Seabird Centre

Wild Scotland was delighted to support 14 kids from inner city Edinburgh on their visit to the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre last month.

The children are all involved in The BIG Project,  a youth and childrens charity based in the Broomhouse area of Edinburgh. This is one of the more deprived wards in the city, and The BIG Project delivers a wide ranging programme of activities designed to compensate for the level of deprevation experienced by these children.

As you can see from the pictures the group had a wonderful time. At this time of year, the gannets are returning to the Bass Rock to nest and there were plenty on the wing on the day of the visit.

Sascha Macleod of The BIG Project said ‘We had a wonderful time at The Seabird Centre. The staff were lovely and Paul looked after us very well. Thank you very much for organising this trip – it was not something we had done before and for children living in an area of disadvantage was a real treat”.

The trip was made possible thanks to funding support from Scottish Natural Heritage.
