The Year of Natural Scotland was officially launched today and VisitScotland launched a £3.4million campaign to attract overseas visitors to Scotland and also to encourage the Scottish population out of their armchairs and into the countryside for the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.

The new campaign will feature a new television advert and, among other activity, a major ticket giveaway from Scottish transport providers which will see at least 15,000 people enjoying free travel during April – allowing them to visit a Scottish island or to travel all over Scotland – courtesy of Caledonian MacBrayne and ScotRail. Coach operator Stagecoach has also offered 5,000 money-off vouchers that can be redeemed throughout the month of April.

Caledonian MacBrayne have provided 10,000 tickets (foot passengers only),ScotRail 5,000 tickets and Stagecoach 5,000 money-off vouchers.  Anyone can apply for tickets for the Big April Adventures and winners will be drawn on a random basis in the form of the ballot which will open for applications at the end of February.
