New Route- North Highland WayAlongside Loch Ness - Great Glen Way

Wild Scotland members Easyways, the Polmont based walking company, has been active in introducing a new route for the far north of Scotland into their multi-choice walking options.  Known as the North Highland Way, the walk will traverse the northern coastline of Scotland beginning at John O’ Groats in the east and ending at Cape Wrath in the west.

A series of stopovers has been confirmed with local accommodation providers and the company is on target to commence bookings in May of this year.  The route is designed to capture the best sightings of wildlife along the coastline, dramatically framed by views across the Pentland Firth to Orkney.  See link here for latest picture information.

The North Highland Way has been a concept for some time and is being actively promoted by the local business community in Caithness and Sutherland under the direction of Tina Irving.

Together with seven other businesses, Tina, who is also a Director of the tourism initiative, LetsGoNorth,   is attempting to make the route into a recognised National Trail, similar in status to the West Highland Way.

EasyWays has sponsored the Way Markers for the route and permission is currently being sought with the local landowners to have these in place a soon as practicable.

It may be a long way to travel to begin a walk but the effort is well rewarded by the experience of being in such a remote location.
