Speyside Wildlife launches new app!

In anticipation of their 25th year of running hugely successful wildlife watching holidays, Speyside Wildlife has launched an app which showcases Scotland’s wildlife; allows recording, reporting and sharing of sightings in Scotland and further afield; enables guests to access their holiday documents and, just for fun, challenges wildlife watchers to look for 25 key Scottish birds and mammals!

Speyside Wildlife was selected by Highlands and Islands Enterprise to be one of the businesses to benefit from its Digital Tourism Pilot and they used their successful bid for ERDF funding for digital development to design and create the app. Working in collaboration with a team led by Dr Alan Miller of St Andrews University School of Computer Science, Speyside Wildlife is delighted to have achieved the launch of the app on Android and Apple platforms.

Sally Dowden, who started Speyside Wildlife in 1991, says ‘With the launch of our app, we are making the most of new digital technologies to showcase and promote access to Scotland’s rich wildlife, to improve our business processes by reducing our use of paper even further and to reach the next digitally sophisticated generation of wildlife watchers.’

TV and radio wildlife presenter Iolo Williams says, ‘I think Speyside Wildlife’s App is a fantastic idea and will be invaluable for anyone visiting Speyside in the future as well as being a very useful conservation tool.’

The app is available for Apple and Android and is free to download for the first 100 days; it will always be available free of charge to guests on Speyside Wildlife holidays.  All feedback is welcome – email app@speysidewildlife.co.uk with your comments and suggestions.
