New tools from VisitScotland to help you share your #scotspirit

Message from VisitScotland:

We are delighted to see that the ‘Spirit of Scotland’ campaign has captured the imagination. More than 20 million people have viewed our online campaign films and there have been 120,000 uses of #ScotSpirit on Twitter. Critically, however, the campaign has helped deliver 469,000 business referrals to industry from visitscotland.com since launch. That’s up 20% year-on-year, representing £160m of potential visitor income in just four months. As I have said on many occasions, this is just the start and we need your help to build on the early momentum in the second phase of the campaign.

Phase two of the campaign sees us launch two new initiatives: the VisitScotland Online Community and the VisitScotland Information Partner programme.

Increasingly, our visitors tell us how much they rely on and trust the information they receive from the local people they interact with while here on holiday.

We want to capitalise on this by using your knowledge and passion to make invaluable local information and advice readily available on the ground and online. Together, we can make Scotland a must-visit, must-return destination!

SCOTLAND ONLINE COMMUNITY

A new Scotland online community platform has been introduced that provides visitors with an additional way of getting the inside track from people in the know, like you.

We need everyone with a passion for Scotland to get involved and share their stories, their hidden gems, top tips and provide advice directly to visitors. Getting ‘inside’ information from people in Scotland is really important to our visitors, user-generated content and peer-to-peer conversations are the most powerful form of advertising and they influence visitors’ holiday decisions.

This platform is now live on the site for a month of testing and gathering feedback from visitors and businesses before fully launching at the end of June with a new marketing campaign.

We need contributors from around Scotland who are the product experts in your area to become regular contributors. Please encourage them to log in and start providing information and inspiration now.

You can access the online platform by clicking on the ‘Community’ button at the top right hand side of the homepage of visitscotland.com. Why not take a look so that you are ready to start contributing – visitors want to hear your stories, travel advice and top tips so please get involved. Make sure you take a look at the guidelines to know what type of information we would like you to share.

Share your stories and inspire the rest of the world to come and visit!
