Glenuig Inn wins Lochaber Business of the Year

Glenuig Inn on the Sound of Arisaig has been voted as Lochaber Business of the Year at the Highland Business Awards earlier today. The Inn, which describes itself as Scotland’s exemplar green Inn, not only leads the way in sustainable tourism, but has held a Gold status from the Green Tourism Business Scheme since 2011, and has a growing national reputation as a centre for sea-kayaking with an excellent infrastructure that supports this as well as sailing and diving. Its reputation as “ … the great base for doing things on the West Coast of Scotland…” means it’s ideal for all outdoor enthusiasts; cyclists, bikers, walkers, sailors, sea kayakers, divers, artists, photographers as well as those who simply want to appreciate the beautiful scenery and get away from it all. The Inn is dog friendly throughout. Steve Macfarlane, Director of Glenuig Inn, commented; “ I’m delighted that the team has been recognised by this award, we pride ourselves on enabling our visitors to enjoy the great outdoors whilst enjoying good food, real ale and comfortable accommodation, and it’s always good to get external endorsement ” He went on to say “as a 100% renewable business, with lower energy costs in winter than summer, we believe strongly in doing the right thing across all aspects of the business including minimising waste. We have recently perfected the ‘zero food waste to landfill’ process which is having a huge positive impact on the running of the Inn” Glenuig Inn serves a full menu (including vegetarian and gluten free options) from 12 noon until 9pm every day all year. The food, a take on modern Scottish is as natural, healthy, local and organic as possible … and the bar is stocked entirely with Scottish, natural or organic beverages.
