Conservation awards seek nature champions

Celebrating excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement in Scottish nature conservation, the search has begun to discover conservation heroes for the Nature of Scotland Awards 2018 brought to you in association with Scottish Natural Heritage.
Entering the awards is free and applications are being sought by 11 Juneacross nine categories including: Business, Community Initiative, Food and Farming, Innovation, Nature Tourism, Political Advocate of the Year, Sustainable Development and Youth and Education.
Open to tour companies, visitor attractions, accommodation and transport providers, wildlife guides and activities across Scotland that provide more than just a wildlife experience, the Nature Tourism Award was won last year by the Scottish Wildlife Trusts’ North West Highlands Snorkel Trail. The first of its kind in Scotland, the trail invites local people and visitors to dive in and experience the area’s marine life creating greater understanding of the biodiversity found in our seas and the need to protect it for the future.
Let’s celebrate the achievements of the inspirational people, projects and organisations working hard to protect Scotland’s precious natural heritage. Nominate a person, project or business dedicated to supporting our environment or submit your own project and tell us what you’re doing to support nature!
The Nature of Scotland Awards shortlist will be unveiled at a Parliamentary Reception in September and the winners will be announced at a prestigious Presentation Dinner on 22 November at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh.Successfully shortlisted entries will receive two complimentary tickets to the dinner hosted by inspirational BBC TV presenter Kate Humble and BBC Scotland’s wildlife expert Euan McIlwraith.
