Glenuig Inn finalist in the European Business Awards for the Environment

Glenuig Inn, Scotland’s exemplar green Inn, is one of only two UK companies to have been shortlisted in the forthcoming European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) which will be held in Vienna in November when the winners will be announced. The award scheme recognises those businesses that are making the most outstanding contribution to sustainable development through eco-innovation. Applications are only open to winners or runners up of recognised national awards and this year the shortlist was selected from 161 applications from 19 countries.
The jury praised the holistic approach and integration of sustainability throughout Glenuig Inn and were impressed with the unique example of sustainability in action. “Glenuig Inn’s philosophy is demonstrated through the extraordinary effort to ‘green’ the supply chain, as well as the education and involvement of both staff and guests”.

Steve Macfarlane, Director of Glenuig Inn which is located on the on the West Coast of Scotland, commented “it’s a huge honour and a credit to the whole team that we’ve been selected to join just 21 other finalists across 9 countries at these prestigious awards.” He added, “when we started out to create a financially and environmentally sustainable business within the hospitality sector 10 years ago, I never imagined we would be recognised for our achievements on national and international platforms. Today it is increasingly important that businesses and individuals both contribute proactively to the circular economy and cease to take our finite resources for granted”
