“Our vision is for Scotland to be globally recognised as the premium destination for sustainable wildlife, adventure & activity tourism.”

The adventure tourism sector is one of Scotland’s fastest growing – accounting for nearly 40% of tourism spending in Scotland and supporting business and employment throughout Scotland including in rural and economically fragile areas.  The sector delivers tangible benefits to the people of Scotland, reconnecting people with nature, promoting responsible access, health and wellbeing, and sustainable economic growth.

Wild Scotland (WS) is a membership organisation representing wildlife, adventure & activity tourism operators.  The current membership of 90 businesses is rapidly increasing, driven by demand for an industry leadership to lobby for the sector and develop a sustainable approach to outdoor and nature-based tourism.

The need

New Board members are required to support what is already a passionate and enthusiastic team. However, we need new blood, fresh thinking and creativity to ensure the wildlife and adventure sector makes the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.

We are looking for 3 new Board Directors to join our team (from November 2019). We are looking for specific skill sets which we think would benefit the future of Wild Scotland. If you have experience in any of the below (or not but want to apply!), then please get in touch:

  • Operator /guide in the adventure sector
  • Legal and regulation
  • Finance
  • Business development
  • Natural heritage
  • Fundraising and grant applications

This is a great opportunity to be part of a GREAT team at a very exciting time!

 Time commitment:

Board meetings are held 6 times a year, usually last three hours and include lunch and we expect board members to attend at least 4 meetings per year.
