Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park is the largest regional park in Scotland. It can be accessed at four different locations which highlight the different habitats which the park represents. These are seashore, mixed woodlands, water and moorland upland.
The central core of the regional park has been designed as a Special Protection Area (SPA) for its population of breeding hen harriers. They have been returning to these moors for more than 50 years and in recent years we have put a camera on a hen harrier nest during the breeding season which offers live footage and interpretation for visitors at Muirshiel Visitor Centre.
Work progresses to create more easy wildlife watching opportunities for visitors for a range of wildlife such as swallows, barn owls, otters and ospreys.
