RSPB Scotland Balranald nature reserve

This beautiful Hebridean reserve has sandy beaches, rocky foreshore, marshes and sand-dunes. Many wading and farmland birds nest on the flower-rich machair and croft-land, with the chance to hear and even see the elusive corncrakes and corn buntings.

A crofters cottage has been converted into the visitor centre with displays on the wildlife of the machair and crofting on the island.  There is an extensive guided walks programme throughout spring, summer and autumn.
