Floor Discussion: Shaping The Future Of Adventure Tourism- Richard Whitcomb, Ekosgen This session provides an opportunity for delegates to input to the national Adventure Tourism research exercise that has been commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise in partnership with Visit Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Tourism Alliance and Scottish Development International. The research aims to measure the scale of the sector, identify growth opportunities and help partners to understand the best way of supporting adventure tourism businesses. It will also provide a better understanding of Scotland’s competitive advantage and how it is placed against some of the world’s top adventure tourism destinations.
- Industry-led Training: Professionalising the Sector– Sally Dowden, Speyside Wildlife
As Wild Scotland develops a new modern Guide Training Programme that will be fit for purpose in the ever-expanding adventure tourism sector, this workshop will explore what more can we be doing to skill the industry, retain staff and deliver the best experiences possible for guests?
With Scotland welcoming many foodies during 2015 Year of Food and Drink. Andrew & Dave will share their stories of successfully incorporating Scottish food & drink into their business and the benefits of giving visitors a quality food & drink experience.
- Market data…you know it makes sense? Mike Dennison, Cycle Tourism Forum and Katharine Taylor, Sustrans Scotland.
This workshop will examine the importance of market data, it’s interpretation, and how it can be used to inform business decisions in the tourism sector. Mike and Katharine will share their experiences of data gathering and interpretation in the context of the Scottish Cycle Tourism Sector. Delegates will gain an insight into how they may access and use market data, to help improve the business decision making process.
