Wildlife Rides on Atholl Estates

Take a ‘Heather, Hills and Hamish’ guided horse ride with Blair Castle Trekking Centre as part of their new range of rides on the fantastic Atholl Estates.

Following old drover tracks, perhaps catching a glimpse of roe deer, grouse and red squirrels as buzzards fly overhead, the ride will be guided by Hamish, an estate ghillie, who will be able to answer questions on stalking and heather management.

Alternatively take a photographic or picnic ride where the ponies will carry panniers with your equipment and food.

The Blair Castle Trekking Centre is set in the grounds of the Castle itself, adjacent to the Deer Park, and offers treks and hacks to suit all abilities. The Centre has been running since the 1950’s, when the 10th Duke of Atholl decided to find summer employment for the ponies used to carry stags and grouse off the hill during the sporting season.

The Centre is approved by the Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland (TRSS), and all the staff are qualified, friendly and familiar with Atholl Estates. Blair Castle Trekking Centre now accredited by British Horse Society (BHS) and Trekking & Riding Society Scotland.
