TripAdvisor favourite now ‘the active heart of the Cairngorms’.

Wild Scotland member Craggan Outdoors (and TripAdvisor’s top-rated outdoor activity centre in Scotland) has formally announced its new identity . The re-branding was to ensure that the outdoor activity business’ ‘look and feel’ was representative of the experiences offered by the provider. The strapline ‘the active heart of the Cairngorms’ also ties in with the increasing public recognition of the Cairngorms National Park as an area that is attracting ever growing numbers of visitors.

Speaking about the project and the resulting new identity, Craggan Outdoors’ owner and Managing Director Keith Ballam said: “The new look and our ‘Active Heart of the Cairngorms’ tagline is the culmination of more than two years of hard work in developing the business since we took over in October 2008. At that point it had a good infrastructure and reputation, but offered huge scope for further business development, along with much more professional and aggressive marketing.”

He continued: “What we’ve done is to focus on developing a staff team of the highest quality, that in turn delivers to our visitors outdoor activity-based experiences of the very highest quality. Our success in doing this has seen visitors’ submissions to TripAdvisor rating us as the top-rated outdoor activity centre in Scotland since 2009, and has also seen Craggan Outdoors shortlisted for ‘Best Visitor Experience’ in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards for the last two years, the only outdoor centre to achieve such recognition!”

Ballam concluded: “The new identity is much more powerful and professional than what went before, and is based firmly on tracking and analysis of what customers have told us that they love about their time at Craggan Outdoors. We’re on course by the end of the current year, our third with the business, to double the turnover that we inherited, a real success story in the current economic times, and we feel that the new branding offers an incredibly strong base for further strong growth in the coming years.”

Craggan Outdoors was established in 2003, and taken over by current owners Keith & Jill Ballam in October 2008. Based on the Glenbeg Estate, 1 mile south of Grantown-on-Spey, the centre offers a choice of over 20 activities, ranging from archery to to zip wire, the majority taking place on site, & a few within a 10 to 30 minute drive. In addition they also offer accommodation in a 27-bed bunkhouse and adjacent 6-bed bothy and the licensed Clubhouse Cafe on-site. They are Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA) licensed, ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ and ‘Adventuremark’ accredited, and are open 7 days April to October, and by pre-booked demand November to March.
