Leave No Trace is an educational and ethical accreditation programme which helps minimise the impact  that people who are enjoying activities in nature have on their environment.

The programme which was developed in the US has been run in Scotland for several years and participants can engage at a number of levels:

  • Awareness (1 day course)
  • Trainer (2 day course)
  • Master Educator (5 day course)

Wild Scotland member Boots n Paddles are running two Leave No Trace Trainers’ Course, a condensed two-day and 1-night program suitable for any outdoor professional to not only learn more about the seven principles, but also to learn the skills to pass their knowledge onto others, in a real life situation.

The seven Leave No Trace principles are:

  • Plan Ahead and Prepare Travel;
  • Camp on Durable Surfaces;
  • Dispose of Waste Properly;
  • Leave What You Find;
  • Minimize Campfire Impacts;
  • Respect Wildlife;
  • Be Considerate of Other Visitors

All are relevant whatever the activity you are participating in, whether walking or hiking, mountain biking, camping or having a family picnic.
