Scottish conservation and education charity launches new science show this summer

The Scottish Seabird Centre, one of the country’s leading conservation and education charities, is launching a new interactive science show, as part of a fun-filled, family friendly summer programme of puppet shows, events and educational activities running from 1 July to 31 August 2019.

In the new show Medi-sea-n, Professor Egghead will take audiences on an interactive journey to find out how sick starfish, poorly plaice and turtles with terrible tummies get better without medicine. Audience members will discover the secrets of marine medicine and how scientists are using their findings to help treat human diseases.

Also returning this summer, following its Easter debut, is Ro-bish Removals. Another interactive science show where children can join Professor Egghead for some playful programming with his riotous robots, and find out how robots can help clean the oceans.

Younger audiences will enjoy the two puppet shows aimed at little ones 2+. In Escape! Percy puffin is trying to leave the burrow and head back to sea to meet his friends and in Lost! Craig the Crab embarks on a journey to find his way back home – travelling across the beach and rockpools, finding out about the coast as he goes.

Speaking about the Centre’s summer programme Malcolm Watson, Seabird Science Communicator, said: “We want to engage people of all ages in the wonders of the Marine Environment, while raising awareness of the challenges faced in an accessible and meaningful way. Our summer programme of interactive science and puppet shows will feature lots of music, fun and games, ideal for keeping the family entertained, whatever the weather this summer.”

Tickets are included with admission to the Scottish Seabird Centre’s five-star Discovery Centre: adult £9.95/ child £5.95. Free for Seabird Members. Request your tickets for the show on arrival at the Centre. Tickets to each event are limited. Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
